Coding Vs Programming For Beginners: What Is The Difference?

Welcome back everyone!! Today we are going to continue talking about programming, more specifically the conditional concept. We have to ask ourselves if the computer can make its own decisions. Conditionals are based on making decisions. The computer understands such instructions and can make decisions as well. to show this to children we are going to use Primary Code. We should enter PrimaryCode and select the language we prefer. Then, in the main menu press the option that is named 'Conditionals'.

The first screen that pops up is the comparison between two quantities A and B. The amount of A is always fixed as 2 and then you need to choose one of the fruits in order to choose the amount for B. We can observe down below the different options and exercises that you can complete and see in Primary Code:

In addition, this class we moved on to using Scratch in order to understand in a deeper way the concept of conditionals. As you can observe in the picture below, we created a conditional based on grades. If you get above or below a certain grade, the sprite replies and says either that you have failed, that you have passed or that you have gotten an A. This is really useful in order to help children understand how grading works and also to make classes more interactive!

Overall, this class was quite useful because we learned everything about conditionals and we furthered our knowledge in Scratch in order to be closer to creating the final project.
